Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has said that Gaurav Gogoi is not perfect for the Chief Minister’s post. He made the statement after receiving the ‘Best Infrastructure Development State’ award in the big state category in the 13th States Conclave by India Today group in New Delhi.
Tarun Gogoi’s remarks came after a senior minister in the state government had said that Gaurav Gogoi – currently a Lok Sabha member – would be the best choice for the party to project as a chief ministerial candidate.
“There is no leader in the Congress who can challenge Gaurav Gogoi. He can be the best choice to be the next chief minister,” irrigation minister Chandan Sarkar had said.
“We have to make way for the new generation. Rahul Gandhi is also in favour of giving more space to the new generation. In Assam, Gaurav Gogoi is definitely a brilliant star. He understands politics and is of amiable disposition. There is no leader in the Congress who can challenge him,” Sarkar had said.
